Ex Libris (USA) announced today that a contract was signed with the Pathfinder and Three Rivers Library System, in cooperation with the other 5 regional library systems in Colorado for the purchase and installation of an ALEPH 500 system. This consortia project`s primary goals are to provide cataloging and record hosting services at no cost to Colorado libraries and schools. The Aleph system will be used as a cataloging utility for all libraries in the consortium, and as a statewide Z39.50 compliant OPAC. Three Rivers and Pathfinder will also use Aleph as their integrated library system..
"We selected ALEPH 500 for because of its power and flexibility in supporting the sophisticated cataloging environment represented by our consortia." said John Campbell, Director of Pathfinder Library System.

The system will run on a SUN Enterprise 250 and will initially support 40 users, with a planned rapid growth in users to follow. It is scheduled to go live in early 2001.
