Openly Informatics, Inc. today announced the development release of its Link.Openly Software for bibliographic hyperlinking.
Link.Openly software is built on the S-Link-S framework, a set of open specifications designed to facilitate the exchange of journal linking metadata. The released material includes:
- Link.Openly Editor, a free application that publishers can use to author and publish linking metadata
- Link.Openly Calculator, software that implements the S-Link-S template language
- Link.Openly XML Linker, software which extracts bibliographic data from XML files, retrieves linking metadata, and computes and formats hyperlinks.
- Link.Openly Linking Database, a central repository for linking metadata.
"We've worked long and hard to develop tools and frameworks that can be used in almost any journal linking application", said Dr. Eric Hellman, Openly's President. "We're thrilled to see the first trickle of what will soon be a river of linking metadata."
