Best Seller Library Management, Inc., (Canada) and its U.S. subsidiary Best-Seller Library Systems, Inc., have announced a new product, PORTFOLIO, an integrated library system based, on client! server technology. The new product will have the same full range of modules as the present host-based product—acquisitions, serials control, cataloging, circulation, OPAC, information and referral, and report generator. In addition, the new product will offer graphical user interfaces (GUI) and z39.50 compliance. Best Seller is working on a Windows NT operating system version of Portfolio to augment the initial UNIX offering.
The 75 existing customers will be provided a migration path to Portfolio beginning this month. A library will have the option of undertaking the migration over an extended period.
So far this year, Best Seller has installed five systems, and has another scheduled. It is in negotiation with three potential customers.
