Dell and Gateway bundle Microsoft Office

Library Systems Newsletter [October 1996]

Dell and Gateway, both mail-order PC vendors known for high quality and low prices, have recently signed an agreement with Microsoft to bundle Microsoft Office into every PC they make. Microsoft is selling Office, currently the most popular word processing and office applications package on the market, to Dell and Gateway for a price that is 75 percent less than that available to software stores. The result is that the bundling of Microsoft Office will add very little to the price of a Dell or Gateway PC, thus giving purchasers who want the product a very good deal.
