DUBLIN, OHIO, AUG. 4, 1997 _ BASIS document management system users will prepare to enter the knowledge management era at the Information Dimensions Exchange Association (IDEA) Annual User Group Conference this fall in St. Louis, Mo. The conference, for sharing document management experiences and strategizing for the 21st century, runs from Sunday Oct. 5, through Thursday, Oct. 9, at the Hyatt Union Station.
End-users from companies such as Boeing, NEC Research Institute, MCI, Merck & Co. and LSI Logic will share stories of successfully managing and sharing the knowledge contained in their huge collections of business-critical documents. Coming out to reinforce the users' messages are representatives from major technology partners such as Microsoft and from industry analyst groups such as International Data Corp. and Delphi Consulting. The conference focuses on helping users and executives learn how BASIS document management systems can help companies mine the valuable content contained in their document collections while preserving those documents' integrity.
"When our users come together, there's more real-world document management experience in the room than anywhere on earth," said Bruce Duff, vice president of marketing and sales at Information Dimensions, whose installed base comprises more than twice as many users as its nearest competitor, according to the International Data Corp.
"When our users begin sharing their vast experience, even the savviest practitioner learns lessons they can use to enhance knowledge-sharing and productivity in their own organizations," Duff said. "These lessons are especially important as business shifts its focus from information systems to knowledge management-the practice of making sense of the proliferation of information resulting from technology."
Karen Neimanis, president of IDEA's Executive Committee, agreed, saying, "The conference provides an excellent opportunity for document management users to learn from the real-life experiences of others who are facing similar challenges. Armed with their new knowledge, users can streamline their knowledge management process in their own workplaces."
Information Dimensions' BASIS document management system and BASIS Intranet Solution, the fastest way to publish huge collections of complex documents on the web, let users index, search, view and share business-critical documents around the world while leveraging all of BASIS V8's document management capabilities. These capabilities include tracking, version control, security, document integrity and automated publishing features.
BASIS users founded the Information Dimensions Exchange Association (IDEA) in 1980 to trade the secrets of success. This year's conference, with its "Gateway to Success" theme, will focus more than ever on user presentations and industry insights.
Highlights of the conference include:
