DUBLIN, OHIO, AUG. 4, 1997 _ BASIS document management system users will prepare to enter the knowledge management era at the Information Dimensions Exchange Association (IDEA) Annual User Group Conference this fall in St. Louis, Mo. The conference, for sharing document management experiences and strategizing for the 21st century, runs from Sunday Oct. 5, through Thursday, Oct. 9, at the Hyatt Union Station.
End-users from companies such as Boeing, NEC Research Institute, MCI, Merck & Co. and LSI Logic will share stories of successfully managing and sharing the knowledge contained in their huge collections of business-critical documents. Coming out to reinforce the users' messages are representatives from major technology partners such as Microsoft and from industry analyst groups such as International Data Corp. and Delphi Consulting. The conference focuses on helping users and executives learn how BASIS document management systems can help companies mine the valuable content contained in their document collections while preserving those documents' integrity.

Also, Centillion Digital Systems will demonstrate a new product called Destiny, which allows corporations to centralize, collaborate on and distribute digital images, text, sound and video via the Internet, corporate intranet or client/server technology.
Document Management into the Year 2000 and Beyond-Amie Shapiro White, IDC
- The Internet will play a critical role in document management into the next century as it becomes the standard corporate information disseminator. According to IDC, increasing numbers of employees are adopting the web browser as their primary means of accessing corporate information from document repositories, and executives are increasingly relying on the Internet as a high-value medium to "push" information out to the user.
