Data Research signs CAN$1.1 million contract to automate University Of Alberta Library

ST. LOUIS, January 21, 1993 - Data Research Associates, Inc. (NASDAQ: DRAI) today announced that it had signed a contract with the University of Alberta, located in Edmonton, valued at CAN$1.1 million (approximately $872,000 U.S.). The contract is a turnkey (hardware/software) sale and the initial system installation commenced during Data Researchs first quarter of fiscal 1993, which ended December 31, 1992.

The University of Alberta has one of the three largest academic libraries in Canada, with holdings of more than 3.5 million book volumes. The Data Research automation system is also planned for use by a consortium of approximately 20 government and academic libraries that is being spearheaded by the University of Alberta Library.

Data Research, headquartered in St. Louis, is a leading provider of library automation systems, networking services and other related services for libraries. Data Research currently has a customer base of more than 225 systems representing over 900 individual libraries worldwide.
