Data Trek announces Version 7.0 of the Manager: series includes over 200 enhancements based on client comments

(Carlsbad, CA - May 2, 1994) -- Data Trek, Inc. today announces, Manager Series Version 7.0, a major upgrade to their flagship library automation product line. Manager Series Version 7.0 is planned for release third quarter, 1994 and is free to Manager Series clients with active Software Support Subscriptions.

Over 200 enhancements will be added to Manager Series Version 7.0 direct]y based on the ideas, comments and suggestions from Data Trek, Inc. clients. Many of the top enhancements were voted on by Data Trek, Inc. clients in a survey published in a quarterly technical newsletter provided to Manager Series clients.

"Manager Series Version 7.0 is the culmination of technical enhancements based on what our clients indicated they wanted and needed," he said. Manager Series Version 7.0 enhancements are provided for Cataloging, Circulation, Serials, Acquisitions, Databridge and Report Generator modules.

Major new features included an integrated menu from which all installed modules can be selected, separate Setup and Utility options easily accessed at the new menu, unlimited variable field lengths for many fields including Title, Author, subject, Added Entry, Series, Publisher, Collation, Cataloging Note, Serials Staff Note and Serials Patron Note for customized editing control, new online help system containing field sensitive help plus a hyper-searchable help index, new browse feature which gives improved access to the data being searched, and more. Additional new features include:

  • simplified screens and key stroke standardization throughout the modules;
  • easier updating, providing access to a "view" mode before editing;
  • displayed pick lists reducing editing time;
  • improved record locking;
  • increased Boolean searching enabling three terms to be searched at one time;
  • modified Backup and Restore options to support many third-party backup and restore applications; and more.

Manager Series 7.0 provides libraries with the latest technology available in library automation. The Cataloging module features a flexible database management system which generates new book lists, shelf lists, catalog cards, and reports by author, title and subject headings. The Circulation module supervises your library's book transactions by providing check-in, check-out, overdue and hold notice printing and patron usage reports. The Serials module integrates wit the Circulation module and provides supervision not only to your patrons, but to your vendors. The Acquisitions module provides an accounting system for your fund accounts, invoice tacking and processing and collection maintenance. The Databridge module is designed to import bibliographic data stored in MARC sources to your other Manager Series modules. Databridge also exports the data into the standard MARC format used by libraries worldwide. The Report Generator module allows you to modify and customize all reports in the Manager Series, including new acquisitions catalogs, claim letters and overdue reports.

Additional Manager Series compatible modules include: OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog), a powerful searching tool, which provides searches for any term or combination of terms in any filed you want; GoPAC, the award-winning graphical OPAC, using the latest in Microsoft Windows technology; Audio/Visual Handler, a fully menu-driven system that ties together six major media center functions; and ImageLink, an imaging tool that imports and links your scanned images such as photographs, maps and illustrations, to your bibliographic records in GoPAC.
