(Carlsbad, CA - February 28, 1994) -- Data Trek, Inc., a California-based library automation company with international offices in the United Kingdom, France, Australia and Canada, announces the purchase of OASIS from Dawson Holdings' Technology Division.
"Data Trek, Inc. is committed to ensuring a longterm and supportive relationship with OASIS users," Data Trek, Inc. CEO, Scot Cheatham said. "This acquisition further solidifies our interest in library automation in Europe."
This enables Dawson Holdings to concentrate on developing and providing advanced alternatives in the supply of information to their clients. This moves Dawson Technology into areas that are more closely allied to Dawson's traditional subscription and book supply business.
"Data Trek is well known in Europe and has a fine reputation. We are confident that OASIS users will benefit greatly from Data Trek's knowledge, professionalism and commitment to the library automation field. This is a good move for all," said Bryan Ingleby, Dawson group chief executive.
The OASIS library automation product line includes Catalogue, Circulation, Serials (SMS), Acquisitions, and Inter-Library Loans (AIM).
Data Trek will provide OASIS users with a number of options, including continued use of the OASIS software, as well as alternatives regarding affordable product migrations and upgrades to Data Trek's products.
Data Trek will also provide continuing product support to OASIS users with current software support agreements.
Data Trek's offices in the United Kingdom and France will take responsibility for the support of OASIS and the conversion to Data Trek's products. They will be contacting each OASIS client to discuss the implications and effects of the changeover. In addition, Data Trek has held several User Groups for OASIS clients and more are planned throughout the year.
