Corel WordPerfect Office 2000

Library Systems Newsletter [December 1999]

Our three most recently purchased PCs came bundled with Microsoft Office, but we spent a little more and added Corel's latest version of WordPerfect Office 2000. It looks very much the same as the earlier versions, but it works much faster and more reliably both in the WordPerfect and in Quattro Pro programs because the disk and memory requirements have been reduced and some processes have been rewritten.

Files can be exchanged smoothly with all other versions, including the earliest DOS versions. Both programs have a real-time preview that displays the effect of font and other formatting changes before actually applying them, and WordPerfect has an editable two-page view. The "reveal codes" feature has been retained unchanged. It is now possible to publish a document as a PDF file. WordPerfect Office 2000 also works with any e-mail client. All-in-all, it is an excellent upgrade for those who have been using the earlier versions of the product.
