Home technology gap documented

Library Systems Newsletter [December 1999]

The U.S. National Telecommunications and Information Administration recently released findings of a study of home Internet access. The most striking finding is that households with incomes of over $75,000 are five times more likely to have Internet access than households with incomes under $25,000. If equality of access is to be fostered, the finding gives compelling evidence of a need for libraries to offer Internet access to patrons.
