Ameritech Library Services opens international implementation center

PROVO, Utah. Ameritech Library Services (ALS) is establishing an International Implementation Center to enhance the coordination of international versions of its software products. Located in Buckinghamshire, UK, the Center will serve as a resource for training and support for international ALS offices and distributors.

Liz Finlayson has joined ALS to direct the center. Finlayson has more than 11 years of experience in the development, installation and implementation of library automation systems for customers worldwide with EOS International (formerly IME). She has managed distributed development teams with programmers from Wales, the United States and Romania and has been trained as both a librarian and a programmer.

"We will ensure that customers outside the United States can benefit from relevant developments and enhancements, wherever they are produced, within the shortest time possible", said Finlayson. "Our team will build on Ameritech Library Services' expertise in the implementation of library software worldwide and an understanding of such issues as character sets and multilingual support."

"Ameritech Library Services has always been committed to fostering local development teams in our international offices, in addition to our North American development teams in Provo, Utah, Evanston, Illinois, and Waterloo, Canada," said Lana Porter, president of ALS. "The International Implementation Center will use our worldwide offices to adapt products and services for local needs. The Center will improve our understanding of global needs, help us to develop products that meet local requirements worldwide, and enable us to get those products to market more quickly."
