ALEPH 500 at major Swiss financial services group

Press Release: Ex Libris [October 28, 1999]

Ex Libris (Deutschland) GmbH is pleased to announce that Zurich Financial Services has chosen ALEPH 500 as the automation solution for their library.

Zurich Financial Services (ZFS) is a leading insurance and financial services group, with headquarters in Zurich, and offers a wide range of insurance, social coverage, and financial services. It is represented in 50 countries and employs more than 68,000 people.

The ZSF corporate library is primarily for the use of the Swiss employees, whom the company felt would be best served by ALEPH, as opposed to other automation products. Initially, with four concurrent staff users and the ALEPH Web OPAC, the library will manage 10,000 monographs, 1,000 serials subscriptions, numerous electronic media items, and the collections of some 600 business segments.

ZSF`s choice of ALEPH was also influenced by the library`s plans to link up with the interlibrary loan and data-sharing facilities of the IDS, the German-speaking Swiss Library Network`s ALEPH-based consortium.

The ZFS librarians have already undergone training in the ALEPH applications and are currently configuring the system to their needs.
