ALEPH moves to the top in Austria

Press Release: Ex Libris [December 27, 1999]

Ex Libris (Germany) GmbH signed a contract today with the Austrian Federal Chancellery for the licensing and installation of the ALEPH 500 system at the offices of the Austrian federal chancellor. The Ex Libris library automation system will serve the administrative libraries of the chancellery, the Austrian State Archives, and the Federal Administration Academy.

Ex Libris (Germany), aided by the Company's Vienna office, will install the system as early as January 2000 and will also provide associated services such as data migration, staff training, and ongoing support. Initially, this ALEPH site will serve 58 concurrent users with Web OPAC and Z39.50 access.

The Austrian chancellor's offices are located in a historic palace in the heart of Vienna, close to the Hofburg (the former imperial residence) and the National Library. The new installation joins other ALEPH sites in the Austrian capital, at the National Library, the Ministry of Science and Transport, and the Ministry of Education and Culture. In addition, Ex Libris has installed some 40 local systems at major Austrian universities and colleges.
