VTLS is chosen to immortalize collection of greater Cincinnati Library Consortium

Blacksburg, Virginia, U.S.A.—Four new customers have selected VTLS' advanced 3rd generation library automation system running with UNIX and Oracle, bringing the total count of Virtua sales to 27, and the total count of VTLS customers to 451.

Two of the four customers are located in Australia. Jack Bazuzi, Vice President of International Operations said that he was very pleased that so many Australian libraries are considering Virtua as their system of choice. "I previously announced that The State Library of Queensland was the first major library in Australia to select Virtua. Now I am pleased to report that the Northern Territory Library, along with The Department of Public Works and Services, Central Corporate Service Unit (CCSU) have placed their confidence in Virtua," said Bazuzi.

Northern Territory Library & Information Service, a consortium consisting of all public libraries, Territory Reference Services, high school libraries and some government departments selected Virtua with a 128 user license. According to the Library, the Northern Territory population is less than one percent of the Australian total but is spread over one sixth of the land surface. The collection is in excess of 1.2 million books with annual circulation of 116,641. They will be using the Virtua OPAC, Virtua-Web Gateway, Circulation, Serials, Acquisitions and Fund Accounting, Adhoc Reporting, Report Writer, label generator. The installation process is currently underway.

The Department of Public Works and Services, Central Corporate Service Unit, (CCSU) selected an eight-user Virtua system. They will be using Virtua's OPAC, Virtua-Web Gateway, Cataloging and Circulation.

Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNITAR), in Malaysia have contracted for Virtua's OPAC, Virtua-Web Gateway, Cataloging, Circulation, Serials and Acquisitions and Fund Accounting. UNITAR is the twentieth library in Malaysia to select and use VTLS products.

Technical University of Gdansk, Poland purchased two 32 user Virtua licenses using Circulation, Virtua-Web Gateway, Serials and Acquisitions and Fund Accounting. They will be installing a test system before the end of 1998. The Technical University is the twenty-fifth library to use VTLS systems in Poland.
