Press Release: epixtech, inc. [January 7, 2000]

Provo, Utah -- epixtech, inc., formerly Ameritech Library Services, announced its first contract under the company's new name, epixtech, inc., with Barrington Area Library (Barrington) in Barrington, Illinois. Barrington purchased the Horizon system, the Resource Sharing System (RSS), WebPAC and TeleCirc II.

Over 97 percent of Barrington's library district residents hold library cards, and the new system and products will increase the services Barrington can offer its patrons. Horizon is functionally rich and easy for patrons to use with its point-and-click navigation, pull-down menus, and on-line help screens. RSS and WebPAC will allow patrons to search the library catalog and place and track interlibrary loans from any personal computer. TeleCirc II will allow patrons to retrieve and update their circulation information with a touch-tone telephone.

"We are pleased to welcome Barrington Area Library as our first customer under our new identity," said Lana Porter, president and chief executive officer of epixtech. "Barrington is an innovative library that is focused on providing exceptional service. The flexibility of the Horizon system and the ability it offers library staff to customize screens and tailor the system to meet the needs of patrons make it an ideal choice for Barrington."

"We look forward to implementing the Horizon system next summer," said Barbara Sugden, executive director of Barrington Area Library. "Its functionality is comfortably workable for staff in all departments, and it will enable us to offer many more electronic services to our patrons. Creative staff members are already making plans to customize the online catalog especially for our library users."
