Vancouver, Canada (May 18, 1999) - As part of its commitment to meeting the needs of special librarians, SydneyPLUS International is introducing a new feature that will enable SydneyPLUS users to e-mail information directly to any of their library's patrons. This new capability is one more example of how SydneyPLUS International is developing the tools librarians need to manage their libraries as efficiently as possible.
SydneyPLUS can be used to generate a wide variety of useful and informative reports, notices, and letters. Now, in addition to previewing this information on-screen, saving it to a file, or sending it to the printer, you can electronically send it to any of the names in your e-mail address book, without leaving the SydneyPLUS interface.
Mark Maslowski, Client Services Manager, believes that the new e-mail capability will make it much easier to manage the day-to-day operations of a library. "E-mail is the fastest and most direct way to send important notices, letters, and other information to clients and suppliers. SydneyPLUS's new e-mail feature lets librarians generate and distribute reports electronically, ultimately saving both time and money." Any report can be attached to an e-mail, but some reports will likely be distributed through e-mail more often than others. You can send overdue notices to patrons with the click of a button. Claim letters can be e-mailed for journals that have not yet been received, ensuring a more prompt reply. Or, you can e-mail the results of a search request to a user. In all these cases, both you and your users or suppliers will benefit from the speed and convenience of electronic communication.
This new e-mail feature is just one of the many ways that SydneyPLUS is responding to the needs of special libraries. Call us today for more information about the e-mail capabilities or any other aspect of SydneyPLUS.
