Paris, France - May 11, 1999 - The Cannes Médiathèque Network has announced that it has chosen to replace its current GEAC system with Best-Seller's state-of-the-art Web-based Portfolio software to support all of its networked libraries and documentation centers.
In addition to its major center, the Cannes Médiathèque boasts four full annexes and a bookmobile all networked together to serve its over 20,000 patrons. Cannes will use Best-Seller Portfolio to access its complete collection of sound recordings, films and rare books, all of which will be accessed by the patrons and by the general public via the Internet.
Georges Mélides, Executive Director of Best-Seller France, says, « Best-Seller's Portfolio multi-media capabilities were a strong competitive advantage. The general public will now be able to view these rare materials via the Internet simply by accessing Best-Seller's Portfolio web software on the Médiathèque's web site.»
This latest contract represents another important success for Best-Seller who, since opening their European headquarters in Paris in 1998, has now some of the largest libraries in France to their existing European client base. This new system will be in place by year's end.
