CyberOdyssey Group announces installation of statewide Internet system

Press Release: Polaris Library Systems [May 16, 1996]

CyberOdyssey Group, the internet consulting services division of Gaylord Information Systems (GIS), announced the successful installation of a statewide client/server system for the New Hampshire State Library. According to State Library System Director Kendall Wiggin, implementation of CyberOdyssey's server has allowed the library system to create a World Wide Web Home Page for the New Hampshire State Library and State Government, and also has let patrons use the Web, in addition to the library's GALAXY automated system, for all library services.

"As a company, we are library experts first and foremost, and technology experts as the technology relates to libraries," said CyberOdyssey Manager Jim English. "This means we know how to design specific configurations to serve specific libraries, rather than just offering a standard set of products."

Wiggin agreed, saying: "In talking to a vendor, what I find valuable is knowing that they understand the industry well enough to immediately comprehend our needs.

In this case, we wanted the machine configured for us, but wanted the flexibility of creating and maintaining our own Home Page. And that's exactly what we got." The CyberOdyssey Group provides the equipment, software and expertise necessary for libraies to become providers and consumers of information on the Internet.
