The merger of EarthLink Network and Mind-Spring Enterprises in September created a giant ISP with more than 3 million customers-in size, second only to AOL. The new company, which is expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2000, will be based in Atlanta. It will use the EarthLink name and will continue EarthLink's strategic alliance with Sprint.
