Ex Libris continues to rack up sales in Europe

Library Systems Newsletter [June 1999]

Ex Libris, still a relative unknown in the United States, continues to rack up sales in Europe. The vendor has recently sold its ALEPH 500 automated library system to University College London (UCL), the largest and oldest constituent college of the University of London. UCL serves over 15,000 students, including 5,000 graduate students, with a collection of more than 2 million volumes in libraries at 14 sites.

ALEPH 500 will also be installed at six sites in Sweden, including the 12,000-student Mid- Sweden University and the Swedish Film Board.

Ex Libris is now actively marketing in the United States and Canada. It targets academic libraries. It hit the target in late May with the signing of Canada's McGill University, a member of the Association of Research Libraries. The University's 13 libraries hold over 3 million volumes.
