ISI provides link to Web content

Library Systems Newsletter [January 1999]

The Institute for Scientific Information has announced Current Web Contents, an expansion of the Current Contents Connect database. The new service provides links to selected and evaluated Web content to reduce the time required to undertake research in any of the disciplines which ISI indexes and abstracts.

Searchers will be able to review a short description of each scholarly research-oriented Web selection prior to linking to that site. The new service will use professional staff to evaluate the authority, currency, relevance to subject matter, and ease of use of sites.

In another announcement, ISI reports that it has added two new Current Contents: The Business Collection and The Electronics and Telecommunications Collection.

Still another new ISI service is Derwent Innovations Index, a Web-based resource that permits searching of patent literature from more than 40 industrialized countries. The index will link information on both citing and cited patent records within the database and will provide links to cited articles.
