ILS adds web link field

Library Systems Newsletter [January 1999]

International Library Systems Corp., a vendor of automated library systems for special libraries, has announced that it has added an Internet address field for its SydneyPLUS system. It is the latest of several vendors to do so.

When adding a catalog record, the librarian has the option of creating a Web link field to include Web URLs, e-mail addresses, and/or FTP sites. The field is repeatable, therefore, any number of Web links can be attached to a single record. A Web site can even be entered as a record on its own.

When a library patron retrieves a record with an address in the new field, she/he simply clicks on the field to launch a default Web browser and connect to the site.
