Ameritech becomes ISP

Library Systems Newsletter [January 1998]

Ameritech has announced that it has become an ISP (Internet Service Provider); it is deploying a national Internet backbone. Libraries will be able to sign on for WWW, e-mail, telnet, and FTP services at computer speeds of 56 Kbps to 1.54 Mbps and beyond.
