Ameritech Library Services has announced Dynix for Windows-Cataloging, the first in a series of Windows-based Dynix modules.
Dynix for Windows-Cataloging is based on a client/server architecture that optimizes processing power by distributing computer processing between desktop workstations and database servers. Dynix for Windows-Cataloging employs a graphical interface with pull-down menus, graphical icons, dialog boxes, mouse commands, help screens, and other Windows features. Full-screen MARC editing is simplified by using standard cut, copy, and paste functions. Users also can merge records using standard drag-and-drop functions. By integrating searching, editing, copy cataloging, holdings creation, and authority verification, users can enjoy uninterrupted workflow within the same work session, save time, and improve productivity. Dynix for Windows-Cataloging also allows users to quickly access other Windows-based cataloging tools such as CD-ROM and authority databases.
