Contec Data Systems of Christchurch, New Zealand, an established company and leader in its home market of Australasia with over 300 installed systems, has announced the totally new C2 Systems from Contec Data Systems. Through development of a software team in Singapore, Contec has invested 30 programmer years in C2 over the past two years. C2, through Infour software, is now available in the U.S. in six "editions" for academic, public, and school, as well as corporate libraries.
C2 is a complete, fully integrated library system catalog input and maintenance, acquisitions, serials, circulation, and online patron access catalog. C2 runs on a standalone PC, in a client-server mode, or as linked systems, on operating systems from Windows to Macintosh, UNIX, and on multiple hardware platforms. C2 is capable of handling not just index or catalog records, but any form of digital multi-media-pictures, videos, images.
C2 has graphical user interfaces, not only for the OPAC, but for all staff functions. All instructions in C2 are multi-lingual in over 20 languages. C2's user windows are controlled-the user can't "take over" the OPAC program-and C2's search control connects to unique intelligent searching utilities including relevance ranking and spellchecking. Contec will also license source codes for local library development.
