Data Trek, Inc., has introduced a new Microsoft Windows-based library automation product called the Graphical Library Automation System (G.L.A.S.). It is a comprehensive, fully-integrated system available for microcomputer platforms, with cataloging, circulations, serials, acquisitions, Databridge, GoPAC (Graphical Online Public Access Catalog), and ImageLink modules.
G.L.A.S. supports standard Windows functions, such as scrollable windows, fonts, colors, etc., giving a similar look and feel to G.L.A.S. as other Windows applications. Even the complete user manual is online. Since G.L.A.S. is a Windows-based product line, librarians can have multiple windows open at one time within the same module or several modules. For example, librarians can edit cataloging information while processing serials claims, while checking out circulation materials as each module is in an opened window.
In addition to the Windows-based products, Data Trek produces two microcomputer, text-based, library automation software product lines: the Manager Series, a MARC-compatible product line with over a decade of user refinement; and the Professional Series, a completely integrated full-MARC system, which strictly adheres to USMARC and x.12 standards.
