Borland discontinues DOS development

Library Systems Newsletter [February 1995]

There are signs that the days of DOS may be numbered. The most recent sign is Borland's decision to stop development of Paradox and dBase, its popular database management systems, for DOS. Future development will be focused on Windows 95 and its successors. The two products have had over 41% of the DBMS market for PCs, therefore, the announcement is expected to affect the remainder of the industry's position on development of DOS.
