Data Trek acquires The Assistant from Inlex

Data Trek, Inc., has signed a letter of intent to purchase The Assistant from INLEX, Inc. Data Trek will provide Assistant users with a number of options, including the continued use and support of the Assistant software at present rates and alternatives regarding product migrations and upgrades to Data Trek's products.

INLEX, Inc., acquired the Assistant Library Automation System in 1991, along with its installed customer base from Library Automation Products, Inc. (LAP) of New York. Since that time, INLEX has provided product enhancements and support for these.customers. The Assistant line of library automation microcomputer products is designed for libraries seeking software that will run on a single PC or in a networked PC (LAN) environment.

Data Trek's three library automation product lines include: The Manager Series, a "MARC-compatible system;" the Professional Series, a completely integrated, full MARC system, which strictly adheres to international MARC standards; and, the School Series, an integrated software package that provides a comprehensive automation solution for school libraries.
