Compaq readies network PCs

Library Systems Newsletter [November 1996]

Compaq has announced that its network PCs, also known as NCs or "thin clients", will be available shortly after the first of the year. The PCs, which will be based on Pentium processors, will cost between $750 and $1,200 each. They will be sealed, diskless PCs designed to work with client! server systems. Their significance for the library market is that they represent a lower cost alternative for OPAC devices.
