Checkpoint adds features to FireWall-1

Library Systems Newsletter [November 1996]

Checkpoint Software Technologies, a major vendor of firewall products, has upgraded its FireWall-1 product to bundle a wide variety of features, including URL screening and antivirus protection, commonly available features that typically are sold separately. Another feature to be bundled, one which is relatively new to the firewall industry, is one that can either permit specific Java applets to come through the firewall or turn them off. There also is a new accounting feature which tracks the activity of users.

The new version, designated 3.0, will be available before the end of the year. The price ranges from $5,000 for 50 users to $15,000 for an unlimited license.
