Dartmouth College library announces EDI serials claiming project

Library Systems Newsletter [September 1992]

Dartmouth College has announced a project to streamline its serials processing by linking the system of its primary serials agent, The Faxon Company, with Dartmouth's Innovative Interfaces Innopac system. The link will employ the ANSI X12 standards for electronic data interchange (EDT).

The objective is to transmit serials claims from the Innopac library system at Dartmouth directly to Faxon. Dartmouth will use EDT/EDGE, an EDT software translation package, to convert claims data from the Innopac format to standard ANSI X12. The Faxon Company is the only licensed reseller of EDT/EDGE in the library/publishing community. After successful completion of this project, Dartmouth, Faxon, and Innovative Intefaces hope to pursue the exchange of claims responses and invoices in the same manner.
