BLDSC serials holdings added to OCLC data base

Library Systems Newsletter [July 1992]

The British Library Document Supply Centre (BLDSC), Boston Spa, England, recently added holdings for 22,000 serial records to the OCLC Online Union Catalog. The records were matched by ISSN through OCLC's TAPECON service, a tape-to-tape batch processing service. They represent 40 percent of the centre's current serials holdings. The BLDSC is looking at ways to add the remaining 35,000 current serial records, which include 8,000 unique titles. The BLDSC is affiliated with The British Library and is dedicated to document supply. Its collections include 200,000 journal titles (current and noncurrent) 3 million reports, 500,000 theses, 300,000 conference proceedings, and 3 million books. The BLDSC's OCLC three-letter code is BRI. Users are asked to register and set up deposit accounts prior to processing requests.
