The Central/Western Massachusetts Automated Resource Sharing Consortium (CW/MARS) has purchased the UTLAS T/ Series 100 System, a Tandem computer-based interface device that will link the Consortium's local system with the UTLAS bibliographic utility using Open System Interconnection Reference Model-standards. The 40 participating libraries will be able to access the UTLAS online cataloging support system and reference data base from any one of their 180 local terminals without requiring terminal users to learn new searching skills. The T/Series 100 is believed to be the first OSI-based interfacing product for libraries.
