CHECKMATE II now available

Library Systems Newsletter [January 1987]

CLASS has announced the availability of the CHECKMATE II Serials Control System. CHECKMATE has been in use in libraries since 1980. The new version, CHECKMATE II, has been completely redesigned in response to user needs and new IBM technology. CHECKMATE II is a faster and more powerful system, designed to help increase productivity and increase management control of periodical collections. The CHECKMATE II software runs on the IBM PC with hard disk and both the IBM PC/XT and AT models. CHECKMATE II has been tested thoroughly at ten sites around the country and users have been uniformly pleased with the results. New features of CHECKMATE II include: faster, more powerful keyboard searching; truncated word searching; cursor controlled check-in; hit rate to 2000; faster and more sophisticated management reports. CHECKMATE II includes many of the standard serials functions of check-in claiming, routing, fund accounting, subscription alert, tracking, etc. The system software sells for $3,300. Demonstration disks are available for $21.50, and manuals can be purchased separately for $31.50.

EBSCO subscription services customers can have their bibliographic records downloaded into CHECKMATE II, thus eliminating the need to manually input bibliographic data. [Contact: GeeMin Fong at CLASS, 1415 Koll Circle, Suite 101, San Jose, CA 95112.]
