Communicating with micros

Library Systems Newsletter [March 1983]

LSN readers wishing to use microcomputers for dial-up searching of remote data bases (see LSN Vol. II, No. 5) might be interested in a recent publication from CLASS (the California Library Authority for Systems and Services). "Communications Software for Microcomputers" is a guide to "smart terminal" software. It reviews operational features essential for efficient use and explains the functions that the programs are designed to perform. Other communications applications for micros such as electronic mail, file transfers and downloading are also explored. The guide includes a listing of over 75 software programs, price, hardware requirements and information on the publisher. The 25 page guide is available to CLASS members for $10.50 ($12.50 to others). ISBN 0-938098-01-2.
