Carl Grant joins Ex Libris (USA) as President

Press Release: Ex Libris [December 8, 1998]

Chicago, Illinois. Ex Libris (USA) announced today that Carl Grant has joined the company as President. Mr. Grant is an industry veteran who has spent some 29 years working for libraries and library automation firms. Most recently, he was the Vice President of Marketing, Product Management and International Business at Ameritech Library Services. He takes on the new role of President of Ex Libris (USA) with the intent to establish Ex Libris as a leading choice for academic libraries across the United States and Canada.

"This is an exciting time to be joining Ex Libris," said Grant. "The market is demanding choices because the present options represent products and vendors who are over-committed, overdue on delivery dates or who are using outdated technology and architectures. Ex Libris is the right product at the right time. With an expanded presence in North America, including sales, marketing, support and development staff, Ex Libris will be able to deliver to customers what they've been seeking... a thoroughly modern product that addresses the unique needs of today's academic environment. Furthermore, it is backed by a viable North American company."

Ehud Arad, President of Ex Libris Ltd., the parent company said, "We're delighted to have Mr. Grant join our company. He has shown through his extensive credentials and industry experience that he has the vision and experience to take our company to a leading position. This addition to our company underscores our commitment to the North American marketplace."

The system marketed by Ex Libris, called ALEPH, is now in over 450 installations with more than 16,000 concurrent users in 39 countries. Ex Libris World Headquarters are in Israel with offices in Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv. The company also maintains offices in Brazil, Argentina, UK, Luxembourg, and Germany, and has exclusive distributors in Scandinavia, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Mexico, Norway, Poland, Portugal and South Africa.
