Industry Consolidation: Impact & Innovation
Abstract: The library technology industry has become highly consolidated via ongoing rounds of mergers and acquisitions. A smaller number of companies are now responsible for the strategic technology products upon which libraries depend. This talk explores the impact that consolidation has had on the number and types of products available to libraries. Has consolidation facilitated or impeded the development of new and innovative technologies for libraries? Breeding draws on data collected from a variety of sources to answer these questions and share the innovation taking place & to be expected in the near future.
