CHORUS and IEEE have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to pilot a TechRxiv preprint dashboard service

Press Release: CHORUS [November 23, 2022]

CHORUS will create a Preprint Dashboard and Reporting Service to identify related funders, datasets, reuse licenses, ORCID identifiers, and links to published articles on publisher sites and government public access repositories. The preprint dashboard will aid in discoverability of preprints associated with funded research providing insight into where research is first being shared. The dashboard has the potential to provide non-ambiguous links between the preprint and published research, researchers, and their funding.

Dawn Melley, IEEE's Senior Director, Publishing Operations, noted "TechRxiv is pleased to be partnering with CHORUS on this development work. A preprint dashboard will help us more clearly connect the steps in the lifecycle of research."

Howard Ratner, Executive Director of CHORUS, noted: "Developing a dashboard service for TechRxiv content is a natural extension of our latest work on a CHORUS Preprint Dashboard and Reporting Service with ChemRxiv. IEEE is a long-standing member of CHORUS, and we welcome the opportunity to work with them on this pilot project."

Both IEEE and CHORUS are not-for-profit organizations engaged in supporting discoverability in scholarly communications.

About TechRxiv

TechRxiv (pronounced "tech archive") is an open, moderated preprint server for unpublished research in the areas of engineering, computer science, and related technology. By using TechRxiv, authors can quickly disseminate their work to a wide audience and gain community feedback on a timestamped draft version of their research. A preprint is a draft version of an article; final versions of published articles should not be submitted to TechRxiv.

CHORUS advances sustainable, cost-effective public access to articles reporting on funded research in ways that benefit all in the scholarly communications community. A not-for-profit membership organization, CHORUS leverages existing infrastructure, promotes collaboration, sparks innovation, and broadens the dialogue among publishers, funders, service providers, researchers, and other stakeholders. By providing the necessary metadata infrastructure and governance to enable a smooth, low-friction interface between funders, authors, institutions and publishers in a distributed network environment, CHORUS minimizes open access compliance burdens while increasing access to literature and data in support of funder mandates worldwide.
