Ca' Foscari University Library to offer AI-Based research tool to students and researchers

Press Release: Yewno [January 25, 2021]

Palo Alto, January 25, 2021 - Yewno, a leading provider of AI solutions for Education, is pleased to announce that Ca' Foscari University in Venice will be providing their students and researchers with access to Yewno Discover, Yewno's flagship artificial intelligence research platform. Ca' Foscari will be integrating Yewno Discover into their Primo installation, which will enable discovery to remain within the library ecosystem.

Yewno Discover is a web-based research platform that helps students and researchers and lifelong learners perform meaningful research in a short amount of time. In a visual research environment, users search topics of interest, understand how those topics relate to other concepts, and access scholarly content. It works by ingesting and reading full-text content and storing that content in a knowledge graph which is presented in a graph format on the front end. In a single session, users can learn what would otherwise require multiple hours of honing topics, locating resources, reading, processing and evaluating information.

Ca' Foscari University has decided to adopt Yewno Discover to optimize its library content and support students and researchers. The University has added the content of its online academic information in Yewno's knowledge graph, in order to facilitate and expand the discovery of the scientific knowledge. Through Yewno Discover, Ca' Foscari University students and researchers can access all the information - even off campus - via the internet with their university credentials.

"Ca' Foscari University is very pleased to adopt this new Artificial Intelligence-based research tool. After testing for some time Yewno Discover, we evaluated that it is a truly innovative tool. We think Yewno Discover will support our researchers and students in a new and original way, by stimulating new ideas and leading to better research output", says Prof. Dorit Raines, President of the Ca' Foscari Library System. "This sophisticated research tool is indeed the next step toward inter- and multi-disciplinarity, in the sense that it allows cross- and interrelated research through concepts, and not merely through words out of their original context".

"As COVID-19 has changed the landscape of learning worldwide, it is important to note that students can access Primo and Yewno Discover digitally from wherever they are, not only in the physical library," says Yewno COO Ruth Pickering. "As the face of learning changes throughout the world, technology can help bridge the gap between the library resources and the student".
