Baltimore, June 29, 2020: The National Information Standards Organization (NISO) is pleased to announce the results of its recent Board elections for the term beginning July 1, 2020. Peter Simon, Vice President, Product Management, NewsBank, Inc., becomes Chair of NISO for the 2020-21 term, after serving as Vice Chair for the past 12 months. Mary Sauer-Games, Vice President, Product Management, OCLC, Inc., has been elected to serve as the incoming Vice Chair. She will transition into the role of Chair for 2021-22 next July. Marian Hollingsworth will transition to the position of Past Chair following her successful tenure as Chair of the NISO Board since July of 2019.
In addition, NISO Voting Members have elected two new Directors — Karim Boughida, Dean of University Libraries, University of Rhode Island, and Rebecca McLeod, Managing Director, Harvard Data Science Review (HDSR), Harvard University — as well as re-electing two current Directors, Greg Suprock, Head of Solutions Architecture, Apex CoVantage, and Robert Wheeler, Director, Publishing Technologies, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). All four newly-elected Directors will serve on the Board for a three-year term starting July 1, 2020 and ending in June of 2023.
Miranda Walker, Senior Publisher, Health Learning, Research & Practice, Wolters Kluwer Health, and Keith Webster, Dean of University Libraries, Carnegie Mellon University; will be rotating off the Board, with our thanks for their service.
