Press Release: Cambridge Information Group [November 6, 2000]

Abstract: CSA (Cambridge Scientific Abstracts) has acquired the databases ABC POL SCI and ARTbibliographies Modern from ABC-CLIO. CSA will continue to publish the products in print and make them available through the CSA Internet Database Service (IDS).

BETHESDA, November 6th, 2000 - CSA (Cambridge Scientific Abstracts) has acquired the databases ABC POL SCI and ARTbibliographies Modern from ABC-CLIO. CSA will continue to publish the products in print and make them available through the CSA Internet Database Service (IDS).

Both databases are market leaders in their field. The ARTbibliographies Modern database provides comprehensive bibliographic coverage of the current literature, articles, books, dissertations, and exhibition catalogs on art and design, from Impressionism onwards (including the field of photography from its invention). ABC POL SCI acts as a guide to the current periodical literature in political science and related disciplines such as international affairs, law, sociology, and economics. The print version of ABC POL SCI will be retitled CSA Political Science & Government: A Guide to Periodical Literature, starting with the 2001 volume.

Autumn 2000 has been a particularly active time for CSA, with the previously-announced acquisition of the Aerospace Database and Political Science Abstracts as well as the launch of e-psyche. "We are working hard to expand the database selection available on IDS," said Matt Dunie, president of CSA. "ABC POL SCI is a great addition to social science databases that we already provide, including Political Science Abstracts, CSA Sociological Abstracts, and CSA Social Services Abstracts. And ARTbibliographies Modern represents our first database in the humanities, an area in which we expect substantial growth. CSA has committed significant resources to improving both the range of topics and information delivery mechanisms of our publishing program."

CSA is a leading publisher of bibliographic databases and print journals used by more than 4,000 research institutions worldwirde. It's award-winning Internet Database Service provides World Wide Web access to over 50 databases covering major areas of research including materials science, environmental sciences and pollution management, biological sciences, aquatic sciences, biotechnology, engineering, computer science, sociology, art history, political science and linguistics.
