After an award-winning year, bibliotheca showcases comprehensive integrated solutions for engaged libraries at ALA Midwinter

Press Release: Overdrive [February 5, 2018]

Oakdale, Minnesota – February 1, 2018 – bibliotheca will be on hand at this year's ALA Midwinter Meeting in Denver, February 9-13, 2018, to showcase a host of comprehensive solutions designed to help libraries connect, engage and evolve.

"bibliotheca launched many new solutions at last year's ALA Midwinter. 2017 was a record-breaking year for us, and we're excited to share our customers' success stories at this year's meeting," says Meghan Davis, VP of Global Marketing.

bibliotheca's full range of self-service solutions, including selfCheck kiosks, remoteLocker and flex AMH will be on display in booth 1438. All three of these solutions are winners of the 2018 Modern Library Awards Platinum and Gold distinctions.

Last year alone, 60 library systems transferred their digital collections to cloudLibrary, citing the platform's ease-of-use, integration with bibliotheca kiosks and the cloudLink sharing model as their reasons. One of those new cloudLibrary customers, Kent District Library, is home to the 2018 Librarian of the Year, Lance Werner. Werner's story of embracing change and the success of cloudLibrary can be found here. "Based on what I hear from our customers about how much they love the cloudLibrary solution and its dedicated support team comprised entirely of librarians with MLS degrees, it's no surprise to me that cloudLibrary won a platinum level 2018 Modern Library Award," says Davis.

quickConnect software, available on all selfCheck options, works hand in hand with cloudLibrary to promote and deliver digital collections right at checkout, further integrating libraries' physical and digital offerings. The quickConnect interface is easy-to-use, intuitive, fully customizable, and offers the ability to publicize library programs and services via a digital billboard, helping libraries build awareness of programs and resources.

The new flex AMH, installed in 75 libraries since its release in April, boasts faster, more accurate sorting designed specifically for library materials. It is a fully modular solution that can be configured for small libraries and multi-level installations alike. Visit the booth to talk about how the flex AMH's drop-and-go capability simplifies the returns process for users – as Forsyth County Public Library has recently experienced.

Stop by to see the libraryConnect platform, a complimentary online tool that allows libraries to easily access helpful guides, videos and tutorials on their latest library equipment. The platform empowers libraries by providing all the information they need to perform routine maintenance without having to depend exclusively on a helpdesk. The booth will also feature a tour of the libraryConnect devices platform which allows libraries to centrally configure, manage and report on all their selfChecks, security gates and return and sorting systems from one location without the need to be on-site at each library. libraryConnect devices make it easy for library managers to run usage reports, review aggregated statistics and more, helping them make data-driven decisions about the usage of their libraries.

On Saturday, February 10, bibliotheca will host an open session, Extend Library Access Through the Open Library Model. The session, which takes place at 10:30 am in Room 106, will feature Lois Langer Thompson, Director of Hennepin County Library, discussing Hennepin's success with bibliotheca's open+ solution.

open+ is a comprehensive solution that allows libraries to extend opening hours and provide patrons with library access outside of traditional operating times. The solution, popular in Europe for over a decade, has been piloted with Gwinnett County Public Library (GA), Hennepin County Library (MN) and Ventura County Library (CA) throughout 2017 and will be available for other libraries this Spring.
