bibliotheca A/S, a joint venture between bibliotheca Group and Axiell Group, is delighted to confirm the acquisition of Danish technology experts, and creators of one of Europe's leading open library solutions, Cordura A/S. This acquisition further strengthens the library offering of the Group and adds significant experience and value to the global R&D team.

Cordura A/S have a diverse range of solutions that have found application within the libraries and museums sectors. Their focus is on delivering an outstanding user experience via the use of technology, whether that be touch-screen kiosks, handheld apps digital signs or their innovative open library solution. Open library was the first 24/7 library system to ever be deployed and created the market for this new and novel product set across Europe and beyond.

Simon Plankenhorn, Group CEO commented: "bibliotheca is an organisation committed to the library market and to developing solutions that allow libraries to expand their patron services. In 2015 we launched our open+ solution within Europe, which provides libraries with the ability to open their doors to customers at times that was previously unimaginable. open+ is a great solution that we have invested heavily in, which will now be enriched by combining the feature set already available with the alternative thinking from the teams at Cordura. We welcome the whole team to the Group and look forward to quickly integrating their innovation into our new single product line and the people into our family."

Lau Rasmussen, Managing Director for Cordura A/S added: "As founding Directors, Peter and I have had the honour of seeing our company grow every day, through the hard work of our staff and the confidence our customers placed in us. Today is a monumental day for the company as we join what is clearly the world's most dedicated library solutions company. From the very beginning, we had no doubt that this was the company we should be part of, a Group that will allow our products and our staff to prosper and grow much quicker than we would have been able to organically."

The Cordura Directors, staff and products will become wholly part of the bibliotheca Group of companies, ultimately giving the global bibliotheca customer base future access to the innovation that Cordura brings. Existing customers of Cordura equipment and solutions can expect to receive the same outstanding level of service and support they have come to expect, but will additionally benefit from the global bibliotheca development team and the world-wide support organization.

Sven Hilm, Managing Director of the bibliotheca Scandinavian region additionally added: "Cordura has been a challenging competitor of ours in the Scandinavian market for the past 12 years, releasing innovation that libraries love. We've enjoyed competing during this time, but are now very excited about the prospect of working together as a team. This is great news for Scandinavian libraries and for bibliotheca customers world-wide, who will benefit from the innovation and creativity that this team brings."
