June 1, 2003. The Berkeley Electronic Press is pleased to announce the implementation of its EdiKit online submission and editorial management system by the American Finance Association and its flagship publication, the Journal of Finance. Beginning June 1, all submissions to the premier journal in the field of finance, as well as the review and adjudication of these submissions, will be handled electronically using Berkeley Electronic Press tools.

EdiKit is an Internet-based system enabling editors to manage their tasks in an efficient manner. Routine functions such as submission-tracking, review requests, correspondence, reminders to referees, and revise-and-resubmits are managed through EdiKit. The net effect is a substantial reduction in the workload for journal editors.

The American Finance Association's Journal of Finance employs EdiKit for all processes from submission through editor's decision. Final publication of the journal occurs after an electronic transfer of files from The Berkeley Electronic Press to Blackwell Publishers. The Journal of Finance receives close to 1,000 annual submissions.

About The Berkeley Electronic Press

Three University of California, Berkeley, professors founded the Berkeley Electronic Press (bepress) in 1999. The goal of the company is to address the inefficiencies that characterize the current scholarly publishing model. Through the production of journals under the bepress imprint and the licensing of its technology to universities and learned societies, The Berkeley Electronic Press seeks to reduce the costs of, and barriers to, scholarship.
