DUBLIN, Ohio, June 29, 2016—Andrew K. Pace, OCLC Executive Director, WorldShare Community Development, took his seat on the American Library Association (ALA) Executive Board on Tuesday at the conclusion of the 2016 ALA Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida.
Pace was elected to the Executive Board by ALA Council in January during the 2016 ALA Midwinter Conference in Boston, Massachusetts. He will serve a three-year term concluding in June 2019.
Pace has served on ALA Council since 2011. He has served on numerous committees within ALA and the Library and Information Technology Association (LITA) and served as the 2008-2009 LITA president. He is also a member of ALCTS, ACRL, the Public Library Association (PLA), the Library, Leadership, and Management Association (LLAMA), the Freedom to Read Foundation and the Intellectual Freedom Round Table. Pace holds a BA in Rhetoric & Communication Studies from the University of Virginia, and an MSLS from the Catholic University of America.
"Volunteering for the profession is such an important part of what we do," said Pace. "The experience I've gained with ALA has been incredible, and I can't wait to put that experience to work on the Executive Board."
At OCLC, Pace leads efforts to scale and accelerate library learning, research and innovation by building on OCLC advisory groups, facilitating deep library community engagement, and managing the OCLC Community Center in the newly formed Membership and Research division. Previously he was Executive Director, Management Services where he directed projects that move library management services to the cloud to gain library efficiencies. Prior to joining OCLC, Andrew was Head of Information Technology at North Carolina State University Libraries, where he spent nine years participating in several digital library projects.
