San Diego, CA - June 22, 2016 - Last month, Boopsie sponsored a survey of over 350 librarians to learn more about the value that mobile apps offer diverse communities and the obstacles that libraries face when launching these apps. In preparation for the American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference later this month, the leading platform-as-a-service provider today published a report on the results of this survey, which is available to anyone who registers for a complimentary copy here.
With a majority of participants representing public and academic libraries, the report explores six key findings of the survey, which featured questions proposed by leaders in the library industry. The report shares such insightful statistics as:
- Over 40% of libraries offer mobile apps, with most of these apps being native.
- Over 20% of libraries plan to launch a mobile app in the near future.
- Of the 26% that have no plans to offer an app, 27% state that they may consider offering one in the future.
"What I found most interesting about the survey results was that almost 70% of libraries see their mobile apps as helping them better connect with their communities," said Megan Vizzini, Boopsie's EVP of Sales and Marketing. "I look forward to hearing librarians' reactions to the results when we share the report at ALA next week. We're excited to contribute to this conversation and to continue helping librarians make their resources more accessible to mobile users."
