AUSTIN, TX-- December 11, 2015. Biblionix, a leading provider of automation solely for public libraries, today announced that its Apollo integrated library system (ILS)/library services platform (LSP) has received the Product of the Year award in LibraryWorks' second annual Modern Library Awards (MLAs). LibraryWorks created the MLAs to recognize the top products in the library industry in a truly unbiased format.
"I was thrilled when I saw that Apollo was awarded Product of the Year -- and not the least bit surprised," said Jenny Newman, publisher and MLA program manager. "With a product so easy to use and with their level of customer service, the Apollo ILS is pretty hot right now among public libraries."
Candidate products were submitted in fall 2015 and were posted on a private site with descriptions and attendant materials. For judging, the link was sent to the LibraryWorks database of more than 80,000 librarians. Only customers experienced with nominated products were permitted to judge the products. Each judge scored the product on a numeric basis from 1-10 on a series of questions regarding functionality, value, customer service, etc.
Of the array of awards, which includes honorable mentions, silver, gold, and platinum award levels, Apollo received the top award of all: Product of the Year, besting all 50+ contenders. This is Apollo's second consecutive year at the top of the MLAs; in 2015, Apollo earned the Platinum award.
"These results reflect the deeply meaningful win-win arrangement we have with our customers," said Clark Charbonnet, founder and principal of Biblionix. "Our company's commitment is solely to public libraries. This singular focus and Apollo's design as an LSP makes for an elegant, easy-to-use product that delights today's public libraries. We sincerely appreciate our customers and their time spent judging. Moreover, this recognition inspires us anew to constantly innovate and deliver superior service to delight our loyal librarians."
Recent major enhancements to Apollo include:
- A totally new responsive public catalog that is receiving rave reviews
- An acquisitions module for management of materials budget and ordering
- VersaCard and VersaCat for consortial borrowing
