Maria Wasing has been appointed chief marketing officer at Axiell Group. With her extensive expertise in technology and marketing, as well as a profound commitment to what technology can achieve for Axiell's customers, who in turn can provide their customers with an improved experience, Wasing is a valuable addition to the management team.
Axiell Group's core business is to provide technically advanced and innovative IT solutions to libraries, schools, archives, museums and a range of public agencies.
The company has expanded considerably over the last few years, growing revenue 19 percent in 2014, while maintaining the operating margin. Today, Axiell Group is the world leader in the field of IT solutions for archives and museums, and the largest supplier in Europe for libraries, totaling more than 6,600 customers world-wide. The time is ripe for a CMO who understands the solutions and the potential they hold for customers, and who has experience in international marketing in the IT industry.
–Wasing has been a member of the board for a year, and I realized at an early stage that I could see her leading our marketing and communication operations. She knows the technical side of our offering well, as well as the benefits our target groups stand to gain from it. This is an unusual combination, and important to Axiells's continued expansion, says Joel Sommerfeldt, CEO for Axiell Group.
Maria Wasing was previously with Episerver AB, holding the position of Vice President of Global Marketing. Wasing studied in the USA, and has worked with a number of major Swedish software companies, both in Sweden and internationally. She took part in launching one of them on Nasdaq, New York.
–Axiell Group's services are important in the shaping of democracy, culture, literacy, and education. I am convinced that this is Sweden's next significant, global IT export. This market is under development, and digital solutions will be essential in meeting the requirements of consumers who are constantly online. Axiell has a vital role to play in the shaping of such processes, and I look forward to having Axiell engage in these possibilities and opportunities, says Maria Wasing.
There are many large and well-known museums and institutions around the world that can be counted among Axiell Group's customers, including the Van Gogh Museum, the British Museum, the British Film Institute, the Smithsonian Institute in Washington and the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage. With Axiell's solutions, one can manage collections and make them accessible to the public.
– My ambition is for Axiell to have a turnover of SEK one billion. To achieve that, we are investing in marketing and the development of new products and services. Bringing new competence to the management group is a step in that direction, says Joel Sommerfeldt.
