Academic libraries choose Boopsie for easy, cost-effective mobile apps

Press Release: Boopsie [March 24, 2015]

Sunnyvale, CA - March 25, 2015 – Continuing its expansion in the academic library market, Boopsie, Inc., the leading mobile platform-as-a-service provider for libraries worldwide, today announced that it has signed five new academic library customers. Murray State University, Treasure Valley Community College, Hollins University, Woodbury University, and Long Beach City College have teamed with Boopsie to develop customized mobile library apps to meet the growing demand an expectation of students, faculty and staff.

"As 90% of people age 18 to 24 say mobile devices are central to their everyday life ( Salesforce 2014 mobile behavior report), it is now more important than ever for academic libraries to implement a mobile strategy. However, if not done correctly, going mobile can take a huge toll on both library staff and budgets, and the user experience can suffer greatly," said Tony Medrano, CEO of Boopsie. "Boopsie aims to help libraries of all types and sizes easily and affordably deploy and maintain library-branded mobile apps to optimize the user experience, attract more users and increase usage."

"Like many academic institutions, our students are increasingly using their mobile devices to access information on the open web, which may or may not be authoritative. We knew that to fix this problem and to provide a better user experience we needed a mobile app, but as a smaller academic library with a limited technical team and budget we thought it was an unattainable goal," said Ashley Ireland, Coordinator of Public Service, Murray State University Library. "We are thrilled to partner with Boopsie, which has empowered us from a technical as well as a cost-savings standpoint to extend our trusted library services to users on their mobile devices at their point of need."
