18 December 2014: Civica, a leader in specialist library solutions, announces that Bayside Library Service, Australia, is the first Spydus customer to go live with Overdrive digital content integration. Civica has been working with the APIs provided by Overdrive to ensure an enhanced borrower experience which enables digital content discovery, loans, and reservations from the Spydus Integrated Library Management System.
For Bayside Libraries patrons, both digital and physical content can be discovered and loaned through the Spydus catalogue, and for library staff, Overdrive loans statistics are captured within the Spydus system for improved statistical reporting.
"The Overdrive access within our Spydus catalogue has made the process of downloading digital content much simpler for our borrowers," said Sarah Hopkins, Library Resources Coordinator for Bayside Libraries.
For the past year Civica has been working with third party ebook vendors APIs to provide seamless access to content in the Spydus integrated library system. In addition to Overdrive, Spydus also provides seamless access to Zinio and Axis 360 digital content, with OneClickdigital, Wheelers and Bolinda content available in the near future.
"Since the release of our Overdrive interface several months ago we have an excellent response from our customers," said Marc Nolan, Managing Director Civica Library Solutions. "In addition to the seamless access to Overdrive content, our OPAC discovery features have made all digital content more accessible to library borrowers."
